How much does a recording studio cost in Melbourne?
Melbourne studios typically charge anywhere from about $50 to $400 an hour. At The Avenue, sessions with a house engineer are $175 an hour or $1,199 for a full day, and dry hire starts at $149 an hour — every rate includes full access to everything in the room you book, GST included.
What's included in the rate?
Every session includes full access to everything in the room you book — in Studio A that means the SSL 6000E console, the live room and isolation booths — with GST included. Nothing is tiered or held back, and the studio tour before you book is always free.
What is dry hire?
Dry hire means you book the room and all its equipment without an engineer — you bring your own or run the session yourself. At The Avenue you can dry-hire Studio A from $149 an hour.
Do you price-match?
We price-match, like for like — if a comparable Melbourne studio with a similar room, similar gear and an engineer of similar experience has a better offer, tell us and we'll match it.
Do you take a deposit?
Yes — we ask for a 50% deposit (or payment upfront) to lock in your booking, and cancellations need at least 48 hours’ notice. Full details are in our studio policy.
Is the studio tour really free?
